Credits & source

Negs is free software by Noah Haasis, based on spektrafilm by Andrea Volpato and spektrafilm-rs by turbasvin.

The app is distributed under GPL-3.0. Source code and build instructions are available on GitHub.

The film and paper profiles and the spectral tables from spektrafilm are by Andrea Volpato, under CC BY-SA 4.0. See the data changes. The default spectral table is by Johannes Hanatos, author of vkdt. The Mallett 2019 table uses the work of Ian Mallett and Cem Yuksel.

The 120 film border is film.png from film-borders by romnn, under the MIT License. The 35mm film borders are made from “135 film. Konica VX 10. DX encoding” by Dmitry Makeev, under CC BY-SA 4.0; the scanned material and the strips rendered from it are under the same licence (how they were made). Their edge print is set in Barlow Condensed by The Barlow Project Authors, under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. The wordmark is set in Instrument Serif by The Instrument Serif Project Authors, under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Sample photographs

The Nikon Z f photographs are project-supplied samples, separate from the application's GPL license. No separate photo license has been supplied for them.

Three additional sample inputs are from Signature Edits' free RAW collection: DSC_2498 (Skrypchenko, as credited in its metadata), IMG_0316 and IMG_4416 (photographers not identified in their metadata). They have been resized and converted to lossy linear DNGs for this editor. Their source license allows modification and redistribution, but not a competing photo-library service or false claims of authorship. It does not grant model, trademark or artwork rights. See the license review and sample provenance. These photos are not GPL-licensed.

Dependencies & privacy

RAW decoding uses rawler (LGPL-2.1). Other dependencies retain their own licenses; their versions are recorded in Cargo.lock. The GitHub repository records the changes to rawler and includes its license.

Your photographs are processed locally in your browser. Opening, editing, and exporting a photograph does not upload it to a server. Cloudflare serves the application files and receives ordinary web requests.

Negs stores your tutorial choice in this browser so it doesn't ask again. This preference is not sent to us. Clearing site data resets it. The editor also remembers interface preferences, such as open sections and panel size, in this browser.
